Astro Cinematography

As a passionate astronomer, after decades of experimentation and recording in real time, camera technology has reached a point where Mark is able to capture high resolution footage of the solar system and beyond into deep space. This has allowed him to combine his passions for the natural world and astronomy, as principle cinematographer and consultant for the Apple TV+ ‘Earth At Night In Colour’ series.

His work has been showcased in an array of science programming including the Sky At Night with the late Sir Patrick Moore, the BBC’s The One Show and 6 series of the popular BBC Stargazing Live. The latter including the first ever live broadcasts of the Northern Lights and a total solar eclipse, both of which Mark filmed live in the air at 30,000 ft. More recent programmes include Earth From Space, Our Universe and Wonders Of The Moon. A career highlight was filming the night launch of the Space Shuttle ‘Atlantis’ for Discovery Channel’s ‘Rocket ships’.
